Instructor: Dawn Schmidt, LMT; NCBTMB #451818-11
We embrace with our arms, we get a grip with our hands and let our fingers do the walking especially in this technological age, all of which often cause stress pain and dysfunction "forcing our hand" to seek treatment. These highly mobile and expressive structures present a variety of treatment opportunities. Participants will assess and treat the elbow, forearm, wrist, hand and digits. In addition, related shoulder and upper arm structures will be addressed to optimize hand and forearm treatment results. We will explore the structure and function, of the retinaculum, ligaments, tendons, bones and joints, structural alignment of the elbow forearm and hand. Visual and tactile assessments will provide information helpful in focusing your treatment approach. We will apply myofascial, structural decompression and unwinding techniques to treatment these important structures. Also, treatment approaches for common conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis/golfers elbow, post surgical interventions, and more will be discussed. This course is primarily hands on with some lecture.
