Instructor: Marty Ryan, LMT
When treating clients with low back or pelvic pain, many massage therapists are unable to fully evaluate and treat their clients because working with the viscera is not commonly taught in massage schools but can be a major contributing factor to low back and pelvic pain. In order to effectively treat pain in this area, this class will teach you how to take a more 3-D and 360 degree approach by learning how to evaluate and treat the anterior spine, visceral fascia, and pelvic floor architecture.
We will discuss, explore, and practice treatments that address holding patterns and contracture in skeletal and smooth muscle in a layer by layer approach. We will also change posture and gait patterns by addressing the abdomino-pelvic and viscera-pelvic floor muscle attachments. Low back pain is complicated, and one of the primary reasons patients utilize an MD, chiropractor, osteopath, or physical therapist for care, yet rarely do these medical providers do any visceral work to address these complaints.
