In the 8 CE class Lomilomi Stretches and Movement Exploration class participants learn to explore and expand range of motion for the back, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles using passive range of motion, reciprocal inhibition, and more. These movements are used within the full body Awareness Massage fundamental routine as taught in the Lomilomi Fundamentals class, and can also easily be integrated into other massage styles as well. Clinical thinking is emphasized.
The approach used in these classes is consistent with the manner of palpation, the values, attitudes and thought processes, and the teaching style used in all Awareness Massage classes.
ABOUT AWARENESS MASSAGE APPROACH
Awareness Massage workshops are designed to inspire both beginning and experienced massage therapists to develop awareness and presence within our own bodies, minds & spirits. This massage is done with DEEP yet GENTLE, LOVING touch. It is clinically focused, structure specific, problem solving massage, which pays special attention to BONES for healing at all levels, if so desired. This work is grounded in lomilomi healing practices from the Big Island (Hawaii) via the lineage of Aunty Margaret Machado and Dr. Maka'ala Yates, D.C.
This work helps relieve pain and encourage ease of movement. Done skillfully, this is highly effective treatment massage that also feels wonderful to receive, making it equally valuable in treatment and wellness focused settings. Awareness Massage can be used to effectively relieve and/or resolve problems related to joint & muscular pain and movement restriction, joint replacement, surgery preparation & recovery, sciatica, injuries from falls and/or repetitive use, arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, headaches, asthma and other breathing problems, depression, emotional pain related to loss, high stress lifestyle, cancer, Parkinson's disease, problematic posture, pregnancy, and more.
