Instructor: Marty Ryan, LMT; NCBTMB #451818-11
About this Class: This module covers the palpation of all relevant bony landmarks and skeletal ligaments for the bony pelvis, coccyx, and pelvic floor. These include the inguinal ligament, sacrotuberous and sacrospinous ligaments, and the obuturator musculature. With this information we will discuss and treat coccyx and pelvic floor pain. We will also palpate and treat the kidney/urinary bladder system and all related visceral ligaments.
About Abdominal Palpation & Treatment Classes: These are independent modules designed to introduce the core and abdominal viscera to manual therapists. The series will explore how the abdomen and pelvis are built, and how to easily and fluently make contact with each of the tissue layers from the belly wall to the spine and from the respiratory diaphragm to the pelvic bowl and floor. From there, clinical treatment applications are discussed and practiced.
For many manual therapists, the pelvic and abdominal viscera are new frontiers and often under examined in a typical therapeutic session. Likewise, our clients often have no idea that manual therapy can be utilized here. This series is an excellent way to begin the journey of palpatory fluency and effective treatment for some of the most common clinical conditions that our clients present.
Each module is a stand alone course with no prerequisites.
