Next Step Breast Massage: Lightening the Ribcage and Freeing the Shoulders with Lynna Fuller

Instructor: Lynna Fuller, LMT

This class is for WA LMTs who have already completed the WA state requirement of 16 hours of specific continuing education in breast massage (WAC 246-830-555) AND/OR LMTs from other states who have completed at least 16 hours dedicated to breast massage and breast massage techniques.

Do you have the required training to do breast massage, but you still aren’t really incorporating it into your work? Perhaps you didn’t get enough initial practice to be comfortable working with undraped breasts. Or perhaps you found the routines you learned previously just didn’t apply to the current needs of your broader client base. Or perhaps, you’ve seen the benefits of breast massage, are using it all the time, and just want further tools and insights!

In this class, I will go further into some of the concepts I teach in my 16-hour Incorporating the Breasts and Chest (IBC) class, specifically: massage of the ribcage, chest, and breasts, intended to (1) support healthy, full breathing and (2) reduce musculoskeletal neck, chest and shoulder-related weakness or injuries. While a smaller part of the class will involve learning/relearning the basic undraped massage techniques I teach in IBC, emphasis will be placed on the tools I use in my own practice for many issues, including seasonal allergies, anxiety attacks, shoulder pain, etc. These tools include use of massage cups and side-lying techniques. I will also be discussing and demonstrating scar tissue release.

More than 6 hours of class time is devoted to hands-on massage practice. The balance of the time is spent refreshing knowledge of (1) WA state requirements for performing undraped breast massage, to include ethics, records, and informed consent and (2) therapist/client safety and comfort.

NOTE:This class is not intended to cover specific massage treatment for people living with, or recovering from, breast cancer. Additional cancer specific massage training is recommended prior to offering massage to people living with, or recovering from, breast cancer.
